The top Four Back Strengthening exercises for Men of all time

health | Posted by admin
Jan 10 2010

Stretches of any kind are always good for your body but back stretches in particular will keep you supple and build core strength.

The exercises I am about to describe are easy to do and can all be done in the comfort and privacy of your own home. The only thing I would suggest buying if you do not have one is a comfortable yoga mat that will make it easier when the stretches hurt a little.

Stretch One : The Bent Leg Lift

STEP 1: Place your mat down on the ground and whilst lying on your back bend your knees up at right angles so your feet will face upward. Reach down and hold onto your legs right behind your knees.

STEP 2: Whilst holding firmly at the back of your knees pull them forward towards your chest. Go as far as you comfortably can without feeling pain.

STEP 3: When your lower back is slightly bent hold for a short time about 5 seconds and then return to your starting position.

 Stretch Two: The Bridge Back

STEP 1: Bend down and get onto your knees then bend forwards so that the palms of your hands are flat on the ground and in position lining up with your shoulders.

STEP 2: Now relax and arch your back upwards whilst lifting your shoulders upward. Try to bring your abs in and let your head hand downward a little bit.

STEP 3: Hold the position that you are in and count to 10 then repeat for as many repetitions as you can.

 Stretch Three: The imaginary push

STEP:1 Stand up very straight and reach up to the sky. Then extend your arms straight outward as far as you can stretch and connect the fingers on both on your hands together.

STEP 2: after connecting your fingers together turn your palms outward, push them forward, and stretch out. Imagine you are pushing a heavy object like a closing door away from your body and hold that tension.

STEP 3: When you begin feeling, the tension in both your back and your shoulders hold the push position for 60 seconds and then release. Obviously, you can repeat these exact steps for as many times as you feel comfortable.

Stretch Four: The Swiss Ball Roll

This routine requires the purchase of a Swiss ball if you do not own one already. They are a terrific piece of equipment.

STEP: 1Place the large rubber Swiss ball in front of your body on the floor. Kneel behind the ball. Place your hands on the ball at the top of the balls curve whilst dropping your head down in front of the ball. Make sure you keep your back straight and your head up near the top of the ball.

STEP 2: Stretch your arms out and roll the ball forward just a little, as you roll the ball forward lower your head down towards the floor gradually. The stretch you will get along your upper back will be instant.

When you are beginning with the aim of building back strength the above routines should be done at least three times each week. The number of repetitions that you do will depend on how you feel after completing each routine and should be increased as your back strength increases.

There are literally hundreds of other back exercises after you have these ones down pat and I will write about the following ones over the next few weeks.

1. The Back Raise

2. The Bent over Row

3. The Swiss Ball close Row

Some Vital Tips For Mass Gaining

health | Posted by admin
Jan 10 2010

Author: Kartik Khattar

Bulking up or Gaining Mass is a goal for many bodybuilders and workout-a-holics but we all tend to reach a plateau and fail to go beyond it. Well here are some important tips which would help you in achieving your goals.

  1. Get those Calories:- Yes you got it right, to gain some bulk you need to increase the calorie consumption in your diet. Combined with a good workout regimen a good diet is very essential for gaining bulk. Now, this is to all those who think ‘Carbs are evil’, carbs are your best friend, you should have a good amount of carbs in your diet so that your body can have fuel to burn during a high intensity workout. Along with carbs , PUFA(Poly-Unsaturated Fatty Acids) & MUFA(Mono-Unsaturated Fatty Acid) is also very important. Fruits and Vegetables are not at all to be neglected as they are a rich source of vitamins, anti-oxidants and fiber.

  2. High Intensity Workout: Now just let me make this clear to all those who are lazy to go for a high intensity workout and yet want to bulk up, sorry it’s not possible. Our body is very intelligent, our brain records the number of muscle fibers recruited when ever we lift a weight. Lifting a heavier weight recruits more muscle fibers. Now if we gradually keep increasing the weight we are lifting, also known as Progressive Overloading, we do not allow our body to adapt to a specific weight, so our body senses the requirement or need for stronger muscles and while repairing the damaged muscles( during the workout we cause microscopic damage to our muscles) our body makes the muscles bigger and stronger, capable of lifting more weight than the previous workout. So to grow big you need to lift big, however we still have limitations as far as weights are concerned, so when we reach that limit, we alter our workouts by introducing techniques like Drop Sets, 21 Reps, Longer Eccentric Phases or Negative Reps etc
  3. Sleep: One of my friends loved to surf the net till 4 or even 5 in the morning, and all he had to say about this was, “Why to waste time by dreaming when you can do so much during that time?”,  honestly i didn’t even care to answer that. Dreaming is a very important part of our sleep. The REM ( Rapid Eye Movement) phase of our sleep is the phase in which we dream. In REM phase the brain carries out all the repair work of the body as well as helps in solving all our emotional and psychological issues. Ever noticed why we opt to get a sleep if we are in a terrible mood and we wake up feeling better? The actual recovery of our body happens if we get a good sleep. Bodybuilders and Elite athletes must get 8-10 hours of quality sleep everyday if they wish to perform better in their respective sports.
  4. Supplements: For someone who is looking to bulk up,  supplements can be very helpful, but the main question is – Which supplement to take?. Current supplement industry is gigantic and the number and variety of supplements can go beyond our imagination. From under the tongue drops to powders and pills, you can get anything. Out of all this almost 98% of the supplements have no good researches to back them up, so they may work, and they may not, but shouldn’t we be sure of the purity and efficiency of a product before consuming it? Back in the day, bodybuilders religiously loved 3 supplements, namely, Whey Protein, Creatine and Glutamine. If you ask me, i still would go for the old school supplementation rather than being fooled by today’s over the top marketing techniques used by the supplement companies. Just to help you out a little more in this, ever noticed the really big guys endorsing supplements? do you really think they just took supplements to get an appearance like that, or did they even USE the supplement they are endorsing?? We never know.
  5. Set Realistic Goals: Set realistic goals, do not set a goal of achieving 24 inch arms in a month if at present your
arms measure 16 inches, unless you are deciding to injecting yourself with numerous chemicals , which is not at all recommended.
  6. Commitment: The word says it all, you need to be committed if you are looking for results.

NOTE: Always have a spotter with you when lifting heavy weights.

Stomach Exercises For A Flatter Tummy

health | Posted by admin
Jan 09 2010

Plank For this stomach exercise, you will need to lie on a flat surface, such as the floor. You will be lying in your stomach, so you may want to use a mat or towel to cushion your knees.

Prop your upper body up on your forearms so that your elbows make a ninety degree angle and are positioned directly below your shoulders. Now lift your body up off the floor so that your lower body is supported by your toes, while your upper body remains supported by your elbows. Your body should basically be a straight line, with no arch or drooping through your back. Hold this position for twenty seconds, then lower your body back to the floor. One repetition is sufficient.

Side Plank This stomach exercise is a variation on the previous one, and begins in the same starting position. Once you are positioned properly, roll to your right side, keeping your torso supported with your right forearm.

You will have to raise your hips and roll your feet so that your left foot is on top of your right. As in the plank, your body will be a straight line, but this time you will be on one side. Place your left hand on your hip and hold the plank position for five seconds. Return to start and repeat on the left side.

Ball Roll If you just quickly glanced at the title, you may have gone to find a ball before reading on. If you did, you can go put it away, because in this stomach exercise, you are the ball! First, sit on the floor and hug your knees to your chest. Roll back slightly so you are balancing on your tail bone and your feet are off the floor, toes pointing downward. Pull your abdominals inward while rolling onto your lower back and the upper part of your butt.

Contract your abdominals and pull yourself back to the starting position. Loosening your arms up may help if you find this exercise too difficult at first. Standing Crossover As the name implies, you will need to stand up for this stomach exercise. Position your feet a few inches apart.

Put your arms out to the sides and bend your elbows at a ninety degree angle so your fingertips are pointing to the ceiling and your palm are facing forward. Contract your abdominals and lift your right knee toward your left elbow, while at the same time bringing your left elbow down toward your right knee. Touch the two joints together, pause, then return to start. Switch sides and repeat for an entire set. Click to learn more about Stomach Exercises For A Flatter Tummy

Testosterone Supplementation Options for Men

health | Posted by admin
Jan 06 2010

Several testosterone delivery methods exist. Choosing a specific therapy depends on effectiveness, preference of a particular delivery system, side effects, cost, and potential insurance reimbursement. In this article, I will review pros and cons (seen in clinical trials and from my experience with patients), and costs for different forms of testosterone supplementation. Testosterone replacement options are separated into pharmaceutical medications (FDA-approved drugs, often covered by insurance companies), and compounded medications (individually prepared using FDA-approved testosterone, which may or may not be covered by insurance).

Pharmaceuticals:

Injection. Testosterone injections given in a muscle every week or every two weeks have been shown to be safe and effective. Pros include high peak concentration of testosterone (note, this is usually seen as a “con”), inexpensive cost, and possible insurance coverage. Cons include significant fluctuations in symptom relief (a peak followed by a valley), conversion to estrogen (common), and having to give yourself a shot (or see a nurse or doctor). Cost depends on dosage, and whether or not the injection is self-administered: approximately $30 to $100 per month.

Patch. The patch (Androderm®) contains testosterone in an alcohol matrix, and is applied each night to the back, abdomen, upper arm or thigh. The application site is rotated to maintain seven-day intervals between sites in order to lessen possibility of skin reactions. Pros are that the patch provides steady levels of testosterone for 24-hours and that many insurance companies will cover the cost. Cons include probable skin irritation (seen in most men), low effectiveness (levels rarely reach the optimal range) and high cost without insurance coverage. Approximate cost is $240-$500 per month.

Gel. Testosterone gel (AndroGel®, Testim®) is rubbed into the skin of the lower abdomen, upper arm or shoulder. Gel application of testosterone causes fewer skin reactions than patches. Showering or bathing must be avoided for several hours after application to ensure adequate absorption. Pros include less skin irritation than patches, more steady-state delivery than injections, providing testosterone that can reach optimal levels, and possible insurance coverage. Cons include possible transfer of testosterone to partners, other family members, or pets; possible decrease in effectiveness over time; and high cost without insurance coverage. Approximate cost is $230 to $500 per month.

Gum and cheek (buccal cavity). Striant®, a tablet that softens into a gel-like substance, is placed above the top teeth, between the gum and upper lip. The testosterone in Striant is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, which is safer than oral (swallowed) testosterone. Pros include rapid absorption into the blood stream (bypassing the liver), steady delivery state (especially if used twice a day), and possible insurance coverage. Cons include gum irritation, bitter taste, possible swallowing of the tablet, and cost if out-of-pocket. Approximate cost is $250 per month.

Compounded Forms of Testosterone

Sublingual troches or lozenges. Troches are made by a compounding pharmacy and are dissolved under the tongue once or twice a day. The testosterone in a troche is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, so it doesn’t have the same risks to the liver as oral testosterone, and it can be administered at lower dosages than oral. Pros of sublingual troches include relatively rapid peak in testosterone, safety, and effectiveness at increasing testosterone levels to the optimal range. Cons include the fact that troches may not provide a steady level of testosterone, may have to be used twice a day, and may increase estradiol more than other forms (this is because of the “burst” of testosterone that is delivered). In addition, some of the testosterone will be swallowed so this mode of delivery is not recommended for men with liver problems. Cost will depend on the dosage, number of troches used, and the choice of compounding pharmacy. Approximate cost for most pharmacies is $30 to 100.

Oral. Oral testosterone supplementation is not recommended due to increased risk for cholesterol problems, blood clots, hepatitis, and liver cancer.

Topical gel or cream. Compounded testosterone can be made in smaller amounts than the pharmaceutical (less cream, more potent) and is applied the same way – rubbed into the skin of the lower abdomen, upper arm or shoulder. Pros include significantly cheaper than Androgel or Testim, less skin irritation than patches, effective for some men, and low cost. Cons include possible transfer of testosterone to partners, other family members, or pets; poor absorption in some men, and possible decrease in effectiveness over time. Approximate cost is $30 to $100 per month.

Pellet implants. Testosterone pellets are implanted in the buttocks (occasionally in the lower abdomen) and last an average of 4-6 months. The procedure requires local anesthesia (a shot of lidocaine) and small (~5mm) incision. Pellets provide a steady delivery of testosterone and have been shown in clinical studies to be very effective at helping with symptoms. Pros include effectiveness (most find pellets the most effective form of testosterone replacement), ease, and convenience (not having to use something daily). Testosterone pellets also carry no risk for exposing family members or pets to testosterone, unlike topical gels or creams. Cons include having to have a minor surgical procedure, bruising, possible extrusion (rare), and soreness for a few days after insertion. Some insurance companies cover the cost of pellet insertion; some will cover the insertion and pellets. Average monthly cost for testosterone pellet implants, including insertion, is $72 to $112.

Top 5: Mens Skin Care Tips for Healthy, Youthful, Perfect Skin

health | Posted by admin
Jan 05 2010

Mens Skincare

Mens skincare
is a taboo topic sometimes because some insecure men think it is “gay” or “girly” to take good care of their skin, or have been brought up that way. This could not be further from the truth. Not only will you get more attention from women if you have perfect skin, your confidence will increase tenfold because of it. I will guide you through the basics of mens skin care. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions, I will answer them on a personal basis.

Mens Skin Care Tip #1: Best Protect Your Neck! Wearing Sun protection

While many people have heard this, too many mens skincare experts ignore it: wear sun protection. The sun will be the death of your skin if you do not protect it. Radiation can cause chromosome damage which can lead to skin cancer. It’s much better to take the two minutes to rub some sunscreen into your face, than regret not doing so for years because you got melanoma. An easy way to remember to put on sunscreen is to use a moisturizer/sunscreen combination lotion for application after you wash and shave your face.

Mens Skin Care Tip #2: It’s all about the routine

For many, the shower first thing in the morning wakes them up and gets them ready for the day. This is why you should take the time to wash and shave your face. After you get in the shower, wash your face with a non-irritating face wash (non-irritating usually means no active ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoil peroxide – if it burns or makes your face feel “cool”, it’s irritating). Preventing irritation is key to preventing adult acne and is an important part of mens skin care. After you get out of the shower, dont scrub your face with the towel to get it dry… just gently pat it off.

Mens Skin Care Tip #3: Time to Shave

After you dry your face, it’s time to shave. Shaving for us men is the equivalent to women exfoliating. It removes the top layer of dead skin and helps skin to regrow and renew itself. It is also the aspect of mens skincare that will make your face radiant and smooth. Many people shave after getting out of the shower because the hot water softens the hair which makes for an easier shave. Use a non-alcohol based after shave, and let it dry off for a minute. Next, Gently apply a moisturizer or sunscreen moisturizer, being sure not to rub too hard as this will irritate the skin.

Mens Skin Care Tips #4 and #5: Diet and Exercise

Another neglected aspect of mens skincare is diet and exercise. Like any other organ in your body, the skin depends on nutrients and bloodflow to thrive. Proper diet allows your skin to absorb a full range of vitamins and minerals as well as proteins to repair itself quicker.

Mens skincare
Have great skin and get in shape with diet and exercise

Try to eliminate simple sugars or starches (white bread, pasta, soda, candy); these cause insulin to spike which can cause breakouts. Also, try to gradually replace saturated fats with healthier fats like monounsaturated or polyunsaturated, omega-3s (fish oil) are even better for mens skincare because they have profound anti inflammitory and skin healing properties.

Exercise keeps your hormones balanced properly, as well as cause your heart to work harder, which cleans out toxins from the skin and other organs like the liver, that affect skin appearance. Also be sure to drink plenty of water every day.
As you can see, there is more to mens skincare than meets the eye. I have only scratched the surface. If you are interested in learning more about mens skincare, visit Mens Skin care Tips Online

Yeast Infection Treatment for Men

health | Posted by admin
Jan 03 2010

Women aren’t the only ones susceptible to yeast infections, men can get them as well. And they can be just as uncomfortable and painful as the ones women suffer from. Thankfully, just like for women, there is a yeast infection treatment for men that’s able to work quickly.

Yeast infections are caused by the fungus Candida Albicans, which is perfectly normal to have in the body but an overgrowth is what causes the actual yeast infection. It’s possible to get a yeast infection from a sexual partner, even if a man has no Candida overgrowth of his own.

It’s important to identify the symptoms of a male yeast infection before proceeding with treatment. The most common symptoms include (but are not limited to) discomfort during intercourse, red/itchy skin on and around penis, and painful urination.

Because certain sexually transmitted diseases can also have these symptoms it’s important to get results from a doctor before proceeding with treatment. If it is a yeast infection that’s good news, because it can be taken care of pretty easily. Just as the overgrowth of yeast is a direct result of an imbalance of bacteria in the body it can be reversed.

There are certain treatments that target the Candida Albicans and kill it while leaving the healthy bacteria alone, this allows for the body to rid itself of a yeast infection naturally.

This yeast infection treatment for men is so effective that it can actually prevent future yeast infections from forming. Unfortunately, traditional medication is only capable of treating the symptoms, so it won’t work for those that are serious about getting rid of their yeast infection and never having to deal with one again.

At last a safe, homeopathic remedy is available that eases multiple symptoms of yeast infection in both Men and Women! Get Yeast infection Relief today! Presented by To Better Health your source for natural healing remedies.
